If you do not have other pets, integrating a new kitten in your home is a fairly simple matter. You automatically make a family, and, indeed, spend much time with the kitty collage, and in general “ruin” it.

However, keep in mind that your home is a strange place for a new kitten, and depending on his training, he needs time to adapt and learn. He can come from a foster care situation where care has been taken to his human side. On the other hand, many kittens spend their days in a refuge – a room or a cage or sisters’, “where there are several other cats, young and old. In the latter case, the new kitten needs lots of love and patience, as well as the opportunity to be alone when he needs it. You need to provide assistance to these requirements may help your cat is afraid of his new environment.

A good start in your new kitten is to practice “gentling” technical, detailed in “How Soft a kitten.” I can not take credit for this content. It was given to me by another about this guide, which obtained the information from your veterinarian. This technique allows not only the bonding process, but also get the kitten used to being handled, which will be invaluable later with dental care, brushing and veterinary examinations.

Set aside a private area with a bed, food and cat litter. It should not be the size of the room, but can be screened out of the hall-angle normal activities. We call this a “Safe Room”.

Give your new kitten space when you need lots of loving attention when she asks, and she will soon feel at home.

It integrates with other pets

It is an entirely different matter, but if you have dogs and or cats in the family. First, it is important to quarantine new arrivals small (s) before they had their vet exam, to prevent the spread of diseases or parasites they may carry. Wild cats often have ear mites, fleas and other parasites. Unfortunately, they can also be carriers or infected with FIV or Feel. Kittens adopted from shelters often have Uri?s (upper respiratory infection), including Bordetella (kennel cough). Even kittens breeders can sometimes be the former, often URI have an incubation period of up to three or four weeks, and thus a breeder may be unaware of this condition in a new kitten.

Then put the kitten in a separate room security (see above) a few days. Make sure she has her own bed, food and water bowl and litter tray. After she was cleared by your vet, you can open the door to his “safe” a crack, to give the other cats to sniff and look. Rub her with a towel to forward her scent on it and then put the towel in the sleeping area of your existing cats to get used to his smell. Tactics from giving him a towel or blanket with the scent of your cats. In a few days, you can put in a support and let the other cats to come and sniff. Expect a little rumble and behavior hissy-slobbering at first, it is instinctive.

Since the “holdouts” to try to rush things, but to provide situations in which older cats and new puppy can be divided into a pleasurable activity. My cats like to play “chase the ball” and little Billy. “Ball” is the crumpled sheet, but offers a more interactive than the cats compete in the first fall “catch”. And ’sometimes surprising how often you leave Billy “win.”

Presto – one or two weeks, a group of them should stop and get on well. The most important thing is not to rush things, and give both sides a lot of individual attention from a distance. In no time, the puppy is part of your cat?s chowder.

cat dandruff If you have no other household pets, integrating a new kitten into your home is a fairly simple matter. You’ll automatically make her one of the family, about dogs & cats

Dog owners are frequently perplexed with the weird behavior of the pet. It is not uncommon for pet owners to observe the pet turning around in circles, sleeping with the four legs up like an upended table and chasing the tail. Scooting is one of the bizarre behaviors of dogs. To push the body forward, a dog would use the two front legs not unlike a paddle while dragging the rear end against the carpet or the floor.

The family will certainly be entertained by the dog’s comic act of cocking the head and turning around in circles. No matter how entertaining the dog is, the family would tire of watching the pet. An owner can’t help but think that something must be wrong with the pet.

Scooting can be attributed to boredom. Dogs that don’t get enough attention from the family will either be destructive or will do something to gain the family’s attention. When the dog drags its butt, the family will certainly laugh and encourage the dog to perform. The dog will be encouraged to scoot by the family’s laughter.

The scooting of the pet may not be done to amuse the family. Dragging the butt can mean that the pet is experiencing discomfort. Dogs are indiscriminate eaters thus the discomfort that makes the dog scoot can be caused by a cloth, a string or plastic that gets stuck and dangles from its rectum. The hair on the anal area especially on long haired breeds can have clinging dried up feces. As dogs don’t have hands, the foreign objects on its rear end will be removed with scooting.

Anal gland disorders and worm infestation are other reasons why a dog would rub and drag its rear end on the ground. The severe itching that is caused by the segments of tape worm that pooled around the anal area will make a dog scoot. Another reason why a dog would drag its butt on the ground is anal gland disorders. Anal gland secretions give the dog its distinct odor. The anal gland should empty as the dog defecates but a low fiber diet would result to soft stools. The secretion will become thick if the anal gland is not emptied. A dog with an impacted anal gland will scoot and rub its rear end on the floor in an effort to empty the anal gland that is causing discomfort.

When you consider bringing a puppy into your home, you will perhaps think about getting toys, bedding, and food. Don’t forget to also consider dog kennel training. If you are an a mture dog owner with a history of raising utterly well-behaved pups, you may not require professional classes, but most of families and dogs will get advantage from at least some basic obedience classes. Even if you have a lot of experience with dogs, consider whether everyone in your family will erge the rules compatibly or if you all should visit some classes to present a unified set of rules for your new pet. The perfect time for dog obedience training is when your pup first comes to live with you, though both you and your friend animal can benefit from it at any time. If you buy your dog from a breeder, the breeder may offer classes or tips for positive trainers in your region.

Your local pet shop will frequently give with a beginning kind of obedience training consisting of a range of classes for you and your pet. These are conducted either at the store or a local park. You will soon discover that although they call it dog obedience training, the primary focus is on educating the human owners. Most of dogs are eager to please, but they need a certain set of boundaries, repetition, and permanence to understand what you require. Basic dog obedience training is crucial to make your pup a mentally and emotionally stable, safe, and happy member of your family. Commands such as sit, stop, and stay can and should be started immediately after you bring your puppy home. These commands are just as crucial as early effective house training. Teaching your dog to stay could save its life some day.

If you have children, it is especially important that you are in control of your animal, as dogs don’t need to be at the bottom of the pack and may make attempt to assume a dominant role around children. If you see your dog nipping at your little one, even though it may look like play, you have allowed a negative habit which needs to be changed immediately. If, in spite of your best purposes, it creates some bad habits, you don’t have to live with the issues. It is never too late to turn to a an expert about behavior problems.

What do you think, should a dog be docked or not? Doberman Pinchers, Rottweiler, German Short Haired Pointers are some of the breeds with docked tails. This cosmetic surgery is commonly done so that the dog will fit the standard set by the kennel club. Docking is a procedure usually done to working dogs for the purpose of protecting the tail from possible injuries. However, an owner that is aware why the dog wags its tail would possibly choose not to dock the pet’s tail. Do you know the reasons why dogs wag their tails?

Dogs are not the only animals with tails but tail wagging is usually manifested by dogs. The tail of canines have many uses. A bushy tail certainly improves the physical appearance of a dog. A dog’s tail has other more important functions in a dog’s existence. Retrievers use the tail as a rudder to make swimming easier and working dogs that need to negotiate cliffs and sharp curves use the tail as a balancing tool. The most important function of a tail is as an effective communication tool.

Dogs cannot verbalize what they feel but they have an efficient way of communicating with people, with dogs and with other animals. The expression of the eyes, the movement of the ears as well as the wagging of the tail enables the dog to communicate their emotions and to express their intentions .

The dog’s tail wagging is the counterpart of human’s smile and handshake. A simple smile allows a person to gain friends. Although dogs are known to be protective, these pets are also very friendly. The wagging of the tails is doing the talking. A dog simply needs to happily wag the tail to gain friends. Dog owners are highly attuned to the feelings of their pets.

A madly wagged tail indicate the excitement of the dog. A dog meeting the master at the gate with a happily wagging tail may be looking forward to a walk or to receiving a treat. A dog is a social animal that needs to have a well defined hierarchy. Tail wagging specifies the dog’s rank in the pack. Dominant dogs will wag a tail that is held high stiffly. Lower ranked dogs wag tails that hare held lower slowly. Aside from the mentioned uses of tail wagging; this canine habit is also done for identification. When the tail is wagged, the anal glands are squeezed so that an odor distinct to every dog is released. These pheromones are used to determine the identity, the sex and the status of the dog.

Humans and dogs have formed strong attachments because these affectionate and loyal animals have become the dependable companions, helpers and protectors of man. Dogs are well loved animals and considered not only as pets but also as members of the family. Some dog owners would even care for the dog as if it is a baby.

Dog owners have the tendency to hug and to kiss the pet thus they always want the dog to be around. Because of the close attachment to the pet, owners would worry if something out of the ordinary is noticed in the pet. Some pet parents would even over react and would rush to the vet if the dog is noticed to be off color.

Every little movement of the pet will be noticed by a loving pet parent because similar to a toddler, the dog will be constantly watched as well. A lot of dog owners may not know about twitching but because canine seizure is more common, the involuntary movement of the sleeping pet can be mistaken by the pet owner as a seizing episode. Dogs in deep sleep would twitch but because canine seizures are the concern of most pet owners, the twitching may be mistaken as seizure.

Seizure and twitching are both involuntary movements. The difference though is that a seizing dog would have stiff movements. Moreover, because a seizing dog would not be responsive to the voice of the owner, waking up the pet would be impossible. Although in deep sleep; a dog that is twitching can be awakened easily. A twitching dog would easily respond to a pat or to the voice of the master. A seizing dog on the other hand would be unresponsive and one that seizes repeatedly must have immediate medical attention.

Dogs, similar to humans would dream when sleeping deeply. A dreaming dog may pedal the legs as if running, snap the mouth at imaginary butterflies or twitch. The dog may also twitch because similar to humans, dogs may be dreaming of falling from heights and the twitching is the effort made to abort the fall. Twitching is basically a normal behavior but there are instances when the twitching dog has a medical concern. Constant twitching can be a sign of canine distemper. An advanced stage of distemper is one of the causes of twitching as the neurological system of the dog is severely affected.

In the eyes of a dog the world is in white and in various shades of grey. This is due to the fact that dogs are believed to have no ability to see colors. Dogs are acclaimed for their heightened senses. A dog’s sensitive scenting and hearing abilities is what makes them outstanding guard dogs. Excellent vision is what makes sighthounds outstanding hunters. One of the advantages of dogs over humans is the ability to see well in the dark . As long as a dog is on guarding duty, people can sleep soundly at night.

With these ultrasensitive senses, it is surprising to note that dogs are believed incapable of seeing colors. Dogs can see color but the colors they can distinguish are fewer than what humans can see. Canine vision was studied in the University of California and it was proven that although a dog’s capability to see colors is not as detailed as human’s, dogs can indeed see colors. Yes, Fido cannot appreciate the new bright red ball as to the eyes of the dog the new toy would appear to be a hard to see black or dark brownish gray ball.

It is said that the genetics of dogs and humans are similar. The cone photoreceptors that catch light and control color sensitivity in human eyes are found in dog’s eyes too. A dog’s eye only has two cone photoreceptors while humans have three. The three cones in our eyes delivers 100% full range vision while dogs have approximately 20% range of color vision as they lack on cone. This makes a dog’s vision about six times inferior than what we humans have.

The violet, blue, blue green, green, yellow, orange and red colors of the rainbow would be seen by a dog as blue, light blue, grey, light yellow, brownish yellow and dark grey. The world, as seen by the dog will be in yellow, grey and blue colors. Surprisingly, dogs have the ability to see the subtle differences in the shades of blues and violets.

Humans cannot see the slight change in the shades of violet and blues because of the yellow pigmentation that obstructs short wavelengths and lessens the eyes’ sensitivity. Dogs have an enhanced ability to see various shades of light and blue as the eyes of dogs do not have this yellow pigmentation.

Last Friday I was privileged to have a great visit to the shortly to open Veterinary clinic – “Molly & Max” in Parsons Green. I was taken around the practice by the owner and principal Veterinarian Ella whilst all the builders and other trades were doing their work.

Ella has some great ideas and principles, as shown by the name that chose for the veterinary practice – Molly & Max. Choosing the most popular pet names in the UK, was a way of stressing the importance of the pet over the veterinary clinic and veterinarians. In 2009 Molly was in position number 3 for favourite pet names, followed in number 5 by Max.

Central to the client focus they have recruited a great team to support their launch on the 25th January 2010.

I was really impressed by the work that they are doing in designing their veterinary practice. Unlike most central London Veterinary practices they have had the luxury of designing their building from scratch, being purpose built in modern commercial premises, rather than the quaint and lovely old Georgian town houses that whilst adapted, are difficult for the veterinarian, the pet and the client.

The care that Ella and the architects have designed into the Veterinary clinic starts with the entrance, with a double door, to stop escaped pets, though I would be surprised when they are inside, why they would want to run. This leads to the reception area, where they have two areas, to keep the dogs away from the cats. To minimise the stress that cats have when they travel away from their home, let alone seeing, smelling and hearing the dogs.

The Veterinary clinic has a separate dog and cat room. The cat cages, in glass fibre that is warmer, are all lined up against one wall so they do not see each other. The rooms are watched by video cameras and if there is a particularly sick pet, they can increase the level of oxygen in the air in the room. The dog room has a range of dog sized cages, so can take the largest.

To increase speed of response, they can do blood and other tests in their laboratory, in the full sense of mutuality it also probably increases their profits. They have a special digital X-Ray room that also gives a great response time and another dental X-ray. The Veterinary Surgery is a special clean room, to minimise risks of infection, with all the hospital equipment needed.

Ella has certainly invested in the technology that can aid the diagnosis and treatment of her animals. She is Veterinary graduate from Sydney and has worked in Cumbria and more recently in Chelsea.

Choosing a London Veterinary clinic is difficult, but with professionals like Ella it make the decision easy.

I cannot wait to see her new veterinary clinic when it opens in January, for more information about her practice Molly & Max
