Chinchillas are beloved not just for their fur or their small size. Because of their antics they are loved. Chinchillas, are capable of learning and performing tricks, just like other popular pet choices such as dogs. While they cannot surely perform tricks like jumping through a hoop flaming with fire, Chinchillas have a variety of less spectacular yet amusing tricks that can cause their owners to giggle in appreciation.

Chinchilla tricks are taught to these furry creatures through repetition. Chinchillas are considered as animals of habit, so something that is taught to them repeatedly will become easy for them to do. Chins can learn their name, for instance. When a pet owner repeatedly calls it by its name, the animal will learn to look up to the pet owner and indicate that it understands the message.

Chinchillas can memorize thngs that are placed inside their cages. They can roam around their cage efficiently once they have memorized the layout of their habitat. It can also memorize where their food and water is kept.

Another way of training the Chinchilla is to have it get used to being handled. Chinchillas should get used to being handled before they can be taught to perform tricks. Training for Chinchilla tricks essentially begins with the animals learning to climb on to their owners. Chinchillas should be allowed to crawl over the arms of their owners. Placing treats on the upper part of the arm should encourage them to get used to being close to their owner and to being handled. Chins, in their natural habitat, are very much used to climbing, so they would find climbing over the arms of their owners pretty easy. Unless pet owners wnats their Chins to get irritated, they should never grab them by the tail.

Teaching them how to litter properly can be one of the Chinchilla tricks. It may be very difficult for pet owners to teach their Chins how to litter properly, but a good way to start teaching them is to put the litter box on the same place where they urinate. Chins have the habit of urinating in the same place, so putting the litter box on the area where they urinate can teach them how to properly litter.

It should be underscored to any Chin owner that these animals different from each other in terms of ability to learn Chinchilla tricks. One Chin may not be able to learn tricks that another performs. You need to be patient with these creatures since they are able to learn things that other pets are not able to do.
